Rank Testing 7/9/2011

Olney Taekwondo Center (OTC), 233 E Main St in Olney, hosted a rank testing at the school July 9.

During the testing, 2nd degree-recommended black belt Noah Allen of Olney successfully tested for the permanent rank of 2nd degree-decided black belt, becoming only the fifth OTC student to attain that rank. His rank will be presented to him at a special ceremony in the coming weeks.

In addition, red/black belt Anthony Bissey of Olney successfully tested for 1st degree-decided black belt. As with Allen, his rank will be presented to him at a special ceremony in the coming weeks.

Also at the testing, red belt Jaykob Zuber of Noble successfully test for the interim rank of 1st degree-recommended black belt, signified by a belt that is half red, half black. After continued training, he will test for the permanent rank of 1st degree-decided black belt.

Colored belts receiving promotions at a ceremony July 19 as a result of this testing were: Brian Spurlock to red belt; Christian Harris and Daniel Harris to advanced brown belt; Ming Huang to brown belt; Ethan Bower, Trevor Bower, Riley Eads, and Brandon Humes to green belt; Michael Laughton and Alex Mitchell to camouflage belt; Eli Berger, Christopher Bower, Josh Shoulders and Melissa Wilson to yellow belt; and Avery Miller to orange belt.

The judging panel consisted of: Ryan L. Marx, 5th degree black belt from Carmi; Kevin Roberts, 5th degree black belt from Mattoon and Nathan W. Wheatley, 4th degree black belt and OTC chief instructor. All testing panels must include at least two certified instructors.
